X-ray Photography

X-ray Photography 꽃 사진을 처음으로 시도한 것은 1930대이다.
병원에서 진단용으로 쓰는 방사선은
꽃 사진을 찍기에는 너무 power가 강해서
방사선을 이용한 꽃 사진은 매우 희귀했다.
스티븐 메이어는 워싱턴 주에서 25년을 방사선과 테크니션으로 일을 했다.
그가 X-ray Radiography를 처음으로 관심을 가진 것은 1975년이었다.
그는 1970년대에는 자연과 경치를 찍는 사진을 주로 했고
그의 암실에서 사진을 직접 현상하고 또 흑백 사진에 색을 가미하는 것을 즐겼다.
1997년에 그는 방사선을 이용해서 찍는 사진에 심취해 1,200개의 사진을 만들었다.
대부분의 사진이 구도의 실패로 약 50개의 사진만만들었다.
이렇게 해서 그의 X-ray Photography는 시작이 되었다.
방사선 사진은 보통 사진에서 볼 수 없는 질감
그리고꽃의 세부를 보여준다..
스티븐 메이어는 그의 방사선 사진을 통해 꽃과 식물의 숨겨진 비밀을 보여준다,

Seeing more flowers inside

A stunning morning with 3″ of powdery, new snow and the air cold enough with a light breeze to have some of it fall and show up like diamond dust. Finishing my taxes may have just gotten bumped for another day!

This photograph of a Parrot Tulip, made inside on my kitchen table on just such a sunny March day several years ago, is still one of my favorites. The heavy bloom had tipped downward, a magnificent complement to the curves of the petals and coloring, and I especially love the variable translucency in the sun’s backlighting.
