A stunning morning with 3″ of powdery, new snow and the air cold enough with a light breeze to have some of it fall and show up like diamond dust. Finishing my taxes may have just gotten bumped for another day!
This photograph of a Parrot Tulip, made inside on my kitchen table on just such a sunny March day several years ago, is still one of my favorites. The heavy bloom had tipped downward, a magnificent complement to the curves of the petals and coloring, and I especially love the variable translucency in the sun’s backlighting.
Speaking of translucent, I’ve also long admired the unique fine art X-ray photography of
Steven N. Meyers. His work allows us to see literally inside flowers and leaves.
Much of it, including several remarkable images of Parrot Tulips,
is readily available either as inexpensive posters
or fine art prints.
